Decompensated Personality Disorder?

Postby jag140 » Sat May 27, 2017 7:07 pm

Anyone ever heard of this? Apparently Theodore Millon coined the term to refer to the most severe type of personality disorder where people are unable to fit in with society and have to be institutionalized. On his Wikipedia page, it leads to pervasive developmental disorders, which have very little to do with personality disorders.

When I searched for decompensation, it pretty much led me in the direction where certain personality disorders and mental illnesses fail to put up a defense mechanism in response to stress, often leading to disintegration or delusion. Is this what Millon was referring to? Anyone else ever heard of this?
