It's the "logic" I struggle with

How is it a 10 yr old can go to prison for sexual crime because they fully understood what they had done. But a 15 yr old (or 17 yr old in the US) can't consent because they can't possibly understand.

How is it that if a 14 yr old does consent to sex over here they have been abused and harm has been caused. But go several hundred miles east to Germany and a 14 yr old who consents to sex is not abused and not automatically harmed.

On a recent thing I saw, I think it was without a trace, a topless picture of a fully developed 17 yr old male was called cp. That an older male had sex with a fully developed 17 yr old was called paedophilia.

Also in the US, a gay couple were 17 and 19. The 19 yr old was successfully prosecuted as a child abuser, is now a sex offender and labelled a paedophile for life.

In my country it is perfectly legal to have sex with a 16 yr old and it not be child abuse, but if the internet is involved it becomes child abuse and grooming.

I read a thing where some organization called for the age of consent to be raised to 21 "to protect children", if they do that I'm in BIG trouble. But it seems it might well be heading that way.

I was thinking about the other comment that you made that gay porn age was raised to 18, and real gay sex age of consent was lowered to 16. My guess is that this is the result of competing political agendas: specifically the homosexual agenda and the anti-pornography and child-protectionist lobby. Each got what they wanted: the homosexual lobby got greater latitude, and the anti-porn activists and child-protectionists also got a clamp down. Moral of the story? The squeaky wheel gets the grease? (Remember James, emotion drives everything, logic does not.)

No what happened in that instance is that we had a situation where the heterosexual age of consent was 16, and the porn laws were 16 and it was perfectly legal and acceptable for heterosexual adults in the UK to have sex with, or view pornography of 16 yr old girls. I think it was 1998 (so technically I had been raped hundreds of times for over 4 years according to the law) they bought the gay age of consent down to 16. In 2003 the porn laws were bought up to 18 and internet laws started to come about from then. The 2 ways gays used to meet were gay bars and public cruising. A clampdown on underage drinkers in bars effectively drove 16 yr olds out of gay bars, whilst cruising went almost exclusively online. So one of the situations you have now, is that since gays now meet online, child protection laws kick in and for all practical purposes the it is illegal to practice homosexuality under 18 in this country now. However, if you are 45 and you chat a 16 yr old girl up some place and have sex with her, no offense occurs.
