So were these gay men or 'boy lovers'?

Many of them were straight or in the closet. But 16 is the age of consent here. Would someone who is attracted to a 16 yr old really be unatracted to a 14 yr old?

Hunks and bares are also catergorys. There are youths on grindr who specify "daddy" or for older or 30+. Pedarasty is not a one way street as people would have you believe. A friend I knew into his mid 20 began coming on the main gay website in the UK when he was 15. Hunks were his type, and that's who he went with.

Why is there no data available in the west from places where the age of consent is 14?

For a thing to be science you need a control group, testability and it has to be falsifiable. You also need a statistically significant dataset (a study of 70 for example is not statistically significant and tells you bugger all).

It's probably just me being ignorant about homosexuality. I mean in heterosexual porn there is the teen and the milf categories so it's all the same.

I can say that at one time one of the main papers who now love to promote the idea that paedophilia includes up to fully developed 18 yr olds used to have 16 yr olds topless in underwear on page 3. The gay age of consent got lowered to 16 then the porn laws got raised to 18. Make of that what you will.

I'm extremely depressed at the moment, my thinking is not always clear even to me. Cognitive decline or something.
