Are all people who view child porn bad people?

Was just wondering, I've never viewed child porn myself because I'd be worried I'd get sucked into a cycle of addiction as well as not despising how the kids are exploited in the films. I was wondering what people think about the people who view the images. Are they all bad people all do most just need help?

I'm glad to hear that you've never viewed child pornography, and that you recognise the dangers of desensitisation in regards to it. That's an excellent thing, and I hope you see it as such.

This is an interesting thread, but I can see it becoming a bit of a political debate, which we've been warned to avoid, haha. I'll try to keep my reply concise.

"Good" and "bad" aren't really definable, hence the phrase: one person's terrorist is another person's freedom fighter. But regardless of a person's morals, viewing child pornography (deliberately, and without then reporting it) is against the law. It shouldn't be done. And if your definition of "bad" is "against the law", then my answer to your question is yes.

But all people, "good" or "bad", have a right to help and support. Even if someone is seen as a "bad person" for viewing child pornography, that doesn't mean at they are no longer entitled to support in breaking their addiction.

I don't think it automatically makes you bad (just like getting into a fight or speeding don't automatically make you bad), but it is illegal and so society would think it is bad and it is best to stay away.

I would say...neither. A person wouldn't need help unless they have an addiction.
And I don't believe there is such a thing as "bad people."

No. Many people get carreid away in a cycle of addiction and end up getting to that stage. It's like themore porn you look at, the more you get desensitised to it and you have to find more extreme/out of the ordinary porn to get the same effect as the "normal" porn you started out looking at.

This presents a problem with treatment and rehabilitation in my view, because once caught the whole process starts from the fact you got to those extremes, not how or why you got there.

Anyway, I agree that most people just get in a cycle of addiction. So no, I don't think they're inherently bad.

Most people prosecuted for CP it is of post-pubescents. It is a strange thing to call somone who is attracted to a sexually fully developed human a peadophile. The legality of the matter is not in any doubt. But the lables of paedophile and potential child abuser should be.

Drug addicts can be ex-drug addicts.

Burglers can be ex burglers

A person who randomly beasts 7 kinds of crap out of a kid and screws him up for life has no permanent lable beyond any time served.

A person who looks at CP - which can be a 17 yr old is forever a paedophile rapist and potential danger and not to be trusted.

There is a difference between a CP addict and a drug addict

The CP addict, either involuntarily or not, contributes to the sexual explotation of children.
A drug addict only destroys himself.
