Most employers have filters that basically put your application in the garbage with a felony marked yes. They do not want there time wasted for pointless interviews and either do u. Would u rather have 75 interviews that turn u down after u got all dressed up and spent weeks preparing for an interview or would u rather 2 or 3 that are still willing to sit with you after marking yes?
No there is no box that says you have to tell them your a sex offender. That part is completely up to you. In reality your enemy is not the interviewer, it's HR after they decide to want you. They are the ones that weigh your worth vs liability. The myth of getting jobs as long as it is not children is not true. Being tagged a sex offender means a risk to the company of public image because their company name will be placed on the public website as your employer, also safety to their employees, as well as the workplace nightmare of other employees finding out about you. So what do u do? Here is my best advice. Utilize the sex offender registry for yourself. Pull up every sex offender in your area and see where they work. Your odds are higher if u apply for those jobs the rest is up to u.
I appreciate your comments, although things work slightly differently in the UK and the USA which is where I assume you are from?
There is no option here to find out exactly where sex offenders live on a public website, I also very much doubt an employers business name can also be linked to a sex offender registry here as that would make it impossible to gain employment anywhere and is rather draconian, meaning that anyone with the same issues will never be employed again thus putting further strain on the tax payers burden here in government benefits.
If someone wants to know about sex offenders they have to have just cause for knowing here, i.e have children for example or be in a position of authority where they might need to know about such information, all the information will tell them is how many registered sex offenders live with a certain radius, not names or addresses. Also women can check about a partner if they have any convictions for sex offences, but neither of those are freely accessible and need proof of entitlement to such information as far as I know.
So again there is no way I could find out where other sex offenders are other than help from the probation service in terms of places that might hire me etc.
One part of your life does not define you as a person. Said by a very womderful human being i have had the pleasure to know in my life.
