Call me pessimistic, but I view this sort of thing as the commenters mirroring the opinion of whatever they just read. I've seen this happen in all levels of school as well. When people are confronted with a new way of seeing something that is more fair than they thought their original opinion was going to be, they immediately start agreeing with it and professing it like they always had it. I'm sure some of the people in those comments were genuine, as there always are, but it's just hard to believe that there is such a large group of people who are so understanding and also, more importantly, aware of the issues that pedophiles go through. Unless everyone who commented on that article was a pedophile or something. >.> Which is also pretty unlikely.

I dunno, that's just my thought. It is nice to see this issue getting some positive attention. With stuff like this, it's one more step toward reeducating the masses on the way in which their stupid short sighted opinion is damaging the healing and coping process of people with tabooed attractions.

Thing is, I find cause for optimism in that sort of mirroring. That's all the hate has been too. Mirroring the hateful articles the worst of our enemies have put forward. The social pliability of the common man works both ways, and once our side is actually presented, we win. This is just one example.

Agreed, youthrights. People heal when they don't believe they are seen as monsters. If they think they are seen that way, they in turn mirror--act out--this belief.
