Films with paraphilic themes

Postby HaxX » Sun Apr 28, 2013 11:36 am

I thought I would try to start a post on films, (not porn films, but ones of the more regular variety) That have themes or overtones of unusual sexuality and what the people on this forum might think of them.
We have obvious ones like Lolita (pedophilia), Kissed, (necrophilia) Hostel (cruelty, gore) Crash, etc.
Any thoughts on films along these lines and if you think they do or do not show a clear picture of the subject. This would of be a matter of interpretation of course, but I think its worthwhile subject. :D

"Videodrom"(Cronenberg) – sadism\masochism :) .

"Some Like It Hot" –transvestism? Maybe.

Mysterious Skin - A film about two kids that go through childhood sexual trama and deal with it in different ways.

Happiness - An extremely disturbing comedy. One of the subplots involves a pedophile that rapes little kids. It doesn't take the subject matter seriously and I wouldn't recommend this one unless you can handle really disturbing and twisted comedy.

Michael - a film about a paedophile who has a kid trapped in his basement

North Sea, Texas - a beautiful, romantic film about a young boy who grows up and discovers his homosexuality

"Lolita" wasn't pedophilic but rather 'ephebephilic.' The character "Lolita" in the original novel was 12; in the 1962 film version she was 14 (actor was 16 at time of filming,); 14 in the 1997 version as well (15 during filming.) The real ages of the actors defines what it was. Could have been about a 6 year old, but if the actor playing the role was 15 or 16 that'd be what defines who it actually appeals to.

The Woodsman (2004) - A man returns from prison after serving prison time. The movie project taboos in a good way. And it also shows how frustrating it can be to have your name on a "rapist registry website" in the USA. Some of the plot in the movie I strongly disagree with. I think the movie takes some shortcuts, for example when explaining consent, but overal an ok movie.

Okay okay, I know. I forgot what it was called, that is why I said pedophilia.

Am I the only one who feels that The woodsman veered off on a politicaly correct angle even though that seemed inconsistant with the body of the film?

Little Children (2006) - Romantic drama film about a couple who cheat on their spouses to have an affair. The movie also includes a very sympathetic subplot about a sex offender with a psychosexual disorder.

I know of a lot more, but this one is the best that sticks out in my mind.

I agree with you. Hoped to express it that way, but I guess I didn't.

I think the "solutions" presented in the film were extremely political correct, and the main character could get feelings for girls not in their preteen. Guess they polevaulted some of the problems. But I still think it capture the feeling of trying to integrate after staying in prison, while having your picture on the child offender list

Is a doc, but rather than make an all-new thread thought I'd put it here.

"Are All Men Pedophiles?" (2012)
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Are_All_Men_Pedophiles%3F

Is about hebe/ephebophilia. Only just learned of it. Anyone seen? Worth a dnl?

On a semi-related topic, another Dutch doc from the late 70s dealing with European porn in general touched on a subject I've taken up and been running with since I saw it. That being how we allow violence in media, but disallow sexuality. Was a while ago, but googling around think this is it, title rung a bell:
"Sexual Freedom in Denmark" (1970)
"I'd rather be hated for who I am, than loved for who I pretended to be." - Me.
