Another "Do I have OCD?" topic.

Postby Pizearke » Thu Jul 23, 2009 4:08 am

I've been depressed for the past few weeks especially, and I began to realize that I was literally living each days as if it were my last, and then realized that I've behaved similarly. Almost if a voice in my head asks me "What if?"

I'm afraid my loved ones will die and I won't see it coming. I go to bed with my hard drive and some dry food near me, because in the morning, maybe I'll need to run from the law, or something. Fast.

It's like there are voices in my head, predicting the end of the world. But there are no voices.

I always use numbers I see together in equations. The digits in today's date in my timezone add up to 11. I don't know if this counts as obsession with numbers, but I do stuff like that extremely often.

I need organization in some areas. I always need my desktop tidy, but my bedroom itself is a mess.

Speaking of desktop, I often download files "just in case" I may need these. If the internet collapses, I still have the files.

Does this sound like OCD? Or am I making a big deal out of nothing. I've been considering talking to my parents about it.

(Sorry for the duplicate topic. It said that this one was deleted)

Hi,

It sounds like a 'new' type of OCD called 'Pure O'. Basically, this refers to OOCD where the sufferer just has obsessional thoughts. in Typical OCD, a person might have these horrible thoughts in their head, and then they might feel the need to flick a light-switch or count to a certain number to make the bad thought go away; but then the cycle repeats itself. In your case, however, you just have the obsessional/intrusive thought.

What you must consider is how best to manage these thoughts when they reappear. Firstly, consider where they are generated from. The answer is that it is your very own brain that they are generated from. For some reason, your brain fires random impulses which are then picked up by your conscience... ...there's nothing bad/malicious about it. You should ideally be able to have these thoughts in your head and regard them as silly or non-important. Basically, don't devote any time to them because they have no meaning.
