OCD Intensives for Treatment - ERP** - Exposure Response

Postby dd1986 » Wed Dec 06, 2017 7:09 am

Hi! I’m a 31 yr-old female suffering from OCD. I was born with severe OCD and this is really all that I know. It’s been a long time since I’ve done any treatment or therapy other than my meds of course. Over the past several years, I’ve found that I’ve slipped into the trap of OCD and have become so loyal to it. Instead of fighting it.. I’ve kind of accepted it over the years. “This is how I am.” It’s really taken a lot from me over the past several years. The last straw was a few weeks ago when I lost my 6-figure job that I worked so hard for all my life. I’m in sales in the corporate world. I had a territory and was responsible for new business development. I was my own boss. It was great in one sense - but dangerous for me in the condition I’m in. It gave me total freedom and flexibility to fly under the radar and let my OCD take TOTAL control of my life. Talk about a huge slap across the face. This is what it took for me to *come out of denial.* I’m great at what I do and people love me. However, I couldn’t hit my numbers living a true double-life. I’m looking at going to an Outpatient Intensive Program to do some serious ERP - exposure response prevention.. and take back my life. If anyone has any thoughts or has been to an intensive, please share! :)
