Health/Lyme Disease Obsession

Postby esmccue » Wed Apr 26, 2017 6:57 pm

Hi guys. I'm really confused right now and would like to hear your input on my situation. I've had a lot of symptoms lately that are similar to those of lyme disease; headaches, lightheadedness, brain fog, body jolts, sore muscles & joints, GI issues, etc. I don't ever remember being bitten by a tick in my life, but I was bitten by a dog about 6 months ago, and the dog was diagnosed with lyme disease a few months after that incident. I know you can't get lyme from a dog, but I've read that you can get co-infections such as Bartonella or Babesia. Since I've been feeling so crummy, I keep thinking that I possibly could have one of these co-infections that make you ill and psychologically unstable. I made the mistake of posting on a lyme disease forum and they all proceeded to tell me that I should be checked by a doctor ASAP and I could've even been bitten by a tick without me knowing it. I thought it would be more reassuring but it freaked me out even more. I saw my primary care doctor a couple months ago for this reason and she read the official symptoms of Bartonella and told me to stop worrying about it because I clearly don't have it and to stop looking things up online where anyone could say anything. But it's hard to take her word for it when so many people are misdiagnosed with Lyme type diseases and people online are telling me otherwise. Anyways, have any of you guys had this same paranoia? I can't stop thinking about it, and it makes me think that my anxiety is because I have Lyme or something related. Thanks guys.

If it's causing you that much stress can't you just ask your doctor if you can be tested for Lyme? If he says no, go to a different doctor until one will do it. I believe you can get a blood test to diagnose it
