OCD with childhood sexual experimenting

Postby mikey1904 » Thu Apr 14, 2016 11:42 pm

I keep having worrying some thoughts about sexual experimenting as a child. Some of the thoughts are what if I abused the person? What if I pushed the person into it by threats? I don't remember all the detail of course since it was about a decade ago at the latest. Me and a childhood friend used to experiment by playing doctor Regular kid stuff. Then transferred into more sexual by acting out sexual acts and actually experimenting with Oral sex. Not really same as adult because we would just do it for a few seconds at a time. And never led to penetration because we didn't fully understand the concept of sex. We did this until both of our early teens I believe. I have contacted this person before and they said we were just dumb kids. To let it go and no need to worry. They said I did talk them into it from time to time but it's not a big deal. Everything is ok between us they said and it was in the past. It didn't affect our friendship. But I keep thinking in to it as if what if there is more to it. What if I am a abuser.

From my understanding it is normal for children to experiment at very young ages and had very little to do with sex and even (not that it relates to you { i don't think? Since you didn't specify genders} specifically means nothing of adult orientation. I think that the fact that this is causing you distress and it's bringing up old memories and filing in the blanks with what if this happened that it's probably just ocd messing with you and nothing inappropriate beyond normal childhood experimenting happened.

Does it seem like they have bad feelings about it. Or am I just overthinking.

I don't know. It's difficult to say, I mean usually if you can't really remember there being anything like force or coercion then there probably wasn't but you're I don't know how old now and also dreams and memories can be deceptive if there is gaps. OCD can fill in the blanks and then you have what would be false memories.

I mean just going on what the other person said about it.

I believe most people out there think like me when I say:

We, as kids or early teens, get our sexuality developed. I mean, it starts to develop. It's WAY common that we start having desire for a close friend, we discover masturbation, and (if you are lucky  ) you have these little touch experiences in practice.

You were a kid. How could you be an abuser? IMPOSSIBLE. Even the other person told you that you both were kids and it's common to do that. We are starting to grow up and DEVELOP OUR SEXUALITY.

You just need to start believing this and ignoring OCD (because the only thing that tells you are an abuser is OCD. You are not, and you'll see things this way when you start getting better).

I have also obsessed over childhood experimenting and what it said about me, and it has fed into other obsessions even though I'm certain nothing terrible or coercive happened. I got stuck on one incident where I couldn't quite remember the details or even the name or age of the other kid. Everyone I've asked about it has said it sounds like normal respectful curiosity and it doesn't sound like anything bad or unhealthy happened, so I've just had to accept that that's how it was as far as I can know. From everything I've read, if there wasn't a huge age difference and you don't remember any coercion then you don't need to worry about it. You didn't abuse anyone, and from what you said it really doesn't sound like your friend has any bad feelings about it.
