I'm having trouble with this. I mean I can see that my need for absolute certainty on what is the cause of everything I do may well be OCD in itself...
Anyway, as an example: I want attention all the time and feel jealous if someone is ill and getting attention from people.
I can totally frame this in an OCD way:
1. I have an intrusive thought- my friends don't care about me
2. I feel anxious about it
3. I do a compulsion- tell them I am feeling bad to get their attention
4. I feel better for a bit then have a need for more and more attention to prove they care
However it could equally be something entirely unrelated to OCD, which causes me to want attention all the time.
In this and other ambiguous cases, how do I know if it's OCD? Or, should I in fact stop stressing over what exactly it is? It does make me anxious and I do feel the compulsion to google it or post here so maybe it is an OCD compulsion that I should be resisting anyway?
