Hello,
Do you think stress/anxiety can cause arousal? For example, when someone with HOCD/POCD imagines a sexual situation with someone he fears being attracted to and is really stressed and anxious he might experience a strong groinal response/arousal but when he imagines the exact same situation whilst being less stresssed and anxious he only gets a mild response or no response at all.
I hope you understand what I mean and aren't confused. My mother language isn't English, so I hope the sentences make sense and you understand what I mean.
I'd love to hear your opinions!

This is one of the corner stones of OCD(especially things like HOCD, POCD, or TOCD). I just came from a session with my therapist and told him yesterday was good and felt I felt reassured for most of the day. But today i had a groinal tingle almost all day, the thoughts wouldn't go away, and i almost felt like i wanted to act on them. This is all the nature of the beast. The way he explained it was that you're all worked up (anxiety, fear, etc) and then these thoughts pop into your head, and because they're sexual in nature, and in your current state you're physically aroused(not sexually necessarily), you feel as though the thoughts are arousing. You feel false arousal, attraction or whatever it may be due to the anxiety. I'm only relaying the information as best i can though so if anyone notices any mistakes or misinformation please feel free to correct me.
