I think what this person is trying to ask , is why people would fear something that is "okay".
It's a simple as a gay man fearing they will or are turning straight (also a common OCD theme), or a transgender fearing that they are turning into their assigned gender (as someone has posted on here before). It's a fear based on turning into something you aren't.. it's the simple.

There is absolutely nothing wrong with being gay, that's true.

But with someone with OCD, it's a fear based on the loss of self and a drastic change in identity. It's a fear of developing an unwanted and unnatural attraction towards something completely alien to them. It's a fear of not being able to go back to the way things were and being happy with a partner of whom you wish to be with.

Anyone can suffer this dreadful form of OCD. Both straight and gay.

So to anyone who has a lack of understanding about what HOCD or any other type of OCD theme is, do everyone a favor and find out what it is and why people of certain themes get rattled the way they do. You could be doing a disservice to the OCD community by saying such harsh words.
