Isn't life great!!!!!!!

Postby EZee » Thu Aug 31, 2006 2:47 am

As a former OCD sufferer, I wanted to return to this site and spread the good news for all of our sakes. I suffered with OCD for many years and finally found the courage to accept the good things that are a part of this disorder and use them to my advantage. The biggest problem was overcoming the depression that so often is a big part of the disorder. Here's the good news, it can be overcome and I am living proof of that. I defeated it by listening to positive and motivational recordings in the morning before going to work and in the evenings while I slept. In addtion to that, I listen to them while I'm driving. In other words I continually dump positive messages in my mind!!!!!! I believe that is very important because OCD is soooo negative.

If we think about it, we find that most of the extremely successful people in this world are driven and have OCD to some degree. The secret is using it to our benefit. In other words making OCD our slave!!! We control it and use it benefit others as well as ourselves. As mentioned earlier, I found that OCD was very negative and quite destructive in of itself. So, I began to analyze the thoughts associated with it and found out quite frankly that OCD is a LIAR!!!! The truth is, WE ARE ALL FANTASTIC PEOPLE!! We are kind, courteous, ambitious, helpful, generous, thoughtful, energetic and dependable just to mention a few. WE are not and do not have to be PERFECT!! We are human beings with special skills and great hearts but being perfect is not part of that. So in closing please allow me this final statement!!!!
Let's all do ourselves a great service and bombard our minds with positive information, because I know that greatness is in each one of us and life is wonderful so let's live it!!!!!!!!!!!

My my, those are inspiring words! All that you have said about OCD is true and you've also listed some great techniques for people, not to beat the disorder, but to live comfortably with it. I have also managed this to some degree: I have Asperger's Syndrome of which OCD is a common symptom. I have learned to channel my OCD tendencies to my academic work. It has already worked and my grades prove that.

Also, people know me as being overtly neat and tidy - I enjoy this. I don't want to be known as a messy individual. In this sense all the tidying I do and showers I take are not as difficult to contend with.

Great words though - Thank you for that.

its nice to see some more positive threads around here, this place can get so down sometimes.

I completely agree that OCD thrives off negative energy, keeping things positive has been one of the many ways Ive been coping with it over the last few months.

Thanks :D

I'm glad that you folks find my words encouraging and I really do believe what I said. Let's continue.

OCD in my opinion is a thief and a liar!! Let me say that again. it is a THIEF and a LIAR period. If we allow it to, it steals time, joy, and happiness. Also, it lies to us by bombarding our minds with thoughts that cause us to repeat activities sometimes to the point of exhaustion.

More Good news!!
We are as a general rule extremely intelligent people and we realize that the thoughts that come from OCD are negative, negative, and super negative! To offset this, we must bombard our minds with positive messages. Messages that tell us the truth about ourselves. That we are intend GOOD, confident, kind, courteous, and fantastic. Which of course is the TRUTH!! Here is another truth in my opinion. We are blessed to have OCD because it drives us on to greatness!! I for one don't want anyone feeling sorry for me because I have OCD. I am and will continue to use it as my personal slave to benefit everyone I know and come in contact with and YOU CAN TOO!!!!!

UNWANTED THOUGHTS and WHAT IF'S are negative and a lie! I eject them as you would eject a tape from a tape player by pressing my forefinger against my thumb and saying eject. I immediately replace them with what I call an I am or I can thought. And for me they are; I am honest, kind, thoughtful, good, and intelligent. And I can and will succeed because I am a do it now person!

Be our own BEST friend. What is a best friend? Isn't it someone whose company you really enjoy, who you would do anything for and a person you can count on. Well, then let's be best friends to ourselves. No one deserves having a best friend like that more than we do!!!

Live life today!!!!!!! Remember to be positive and find some positive messages to listen to. By the way, when you meet someone today and they ask how you? Tell them I'm fantastic but I'm improving!!!!! God bless all of you wonderful people!
