About 5 days ago, I started having myoclonus (involuntary muscle jerking) at night in my left leg, left arm and left hand as I was laying in bed and my muscles were relaxing. I am now experiencing difficulty swallowing and last night I was up since 3:00 AM. I have read about CJD and all of the other transmissible spongiform encephalopathies/prion diseases and know that they are ALWAYS fatal, there's no cure nor treatment, and that myoclonus, difficulty swallowing, and insomnia are all symptoms of CJD. I think it's worth mentioning, however, that I have known about them for about a year now, long before I started having symptoms, and I have always been interested in them for some odd reason. I could probably tell you everything about them. I also think it is worth mentioning that I very often have bouts of insomnia. I almost never have trouble getting to sleep, but falling back to sleep is another story. I still worry, though. I mainly worry about having Sporadic CJD, but I was in the psych ward for a few days a week ago and worry that I may have eaten meat containing the prions that cause mad cow disease. This kind of case is known as Variant CJD and is far less common, but I still worry about it. My parents refuse to take me to the hospital and keep telling me this is OCD/Hypochondria, the former in which I have a severe case of but I know virtually nothing about Hypochondria. Can extreme anxiety and worry cause you to feel physical sensations such as difficulty swallowing? I also started taking 225 MG of Clomipramine and 10 MG of Buspar recently, so would this have anything to do with anything? Please help, I am terrified and I don't want to die, at least not a slow, torturous death from something like Creutzfeldt-Jakob disease
