Does it hurt you to clap your hands

Like after a show, and people start clapping. Does this hurt everyone? Cause it seems to me most people can go on and on doing this, I always need to take breaks in the least, I don't really like doing it, and after a while I just have to stop because my palms are "stunned" , but you always feel you have to or people will think you are unappreciative. Stress...

I notice now I ...

Introduction

Hello. Let me start by saying I've not been officially diagnosed.

However, I have this sort of conversations with my wife and parents all the time.

THEM: Why must you be so rude?

ME: How was I rude?

THEM: What you just said was rude.

ME: All I said was <fill in the blank>. How is that rude?

I will yell at the radio alone in my car when they misuse a word or mispronounce ...

Resources Question

I won't go into detailed background unless you would like to know. I have self-diagnosed myself with Asperger's; I believe with a high degree of accuracy. I have done so by reading both diagnosis criteria and some descriptive forum postings that sound like I wrote them.

I have spent most of the mature part of my quarter-of-a-century life trying to "figure myself out." This recent conclusion is either the glue or the missing link to ...

Deformed Face

I have an extremely deformed face. Its so crooked. Every feature is so ugly that even if I got multiple plastic surgeries, I'd still look like a monster. Its not BDD. I really do look like a monster. I feel trapped. I feel as if my heart gets ripped out everytime I look at one of my pictures or in certain mirrors.

Are Aspies usually really good with kids?

Hi everyone,

My boyfriend whom I think is an Aspie is great with my 11 year old. In fact he seems to feel far more relaxed with her than with me. They tease each other, always chatting to each other and he always seems 'up with the kid/teenage' fashion/movies/singers etc so he always seems to know what she is talking about or referring to.

My boyfriend has a great sense of humour but I only ...

Is there a difference?

Between rapid speech and pressured speech? I read up on pressured speech, how it can make no sense whatsoever, sort of skip form one thought to the next and that isnt me at all. That said I do ramble, but it is connected, and I do change the topic, but not mid sentence, just kind of randomly when a thought enters my head. However, I noticed tonight after recieving a letter that I got a ...

Dialectical Behavior Therapy(DBT)

Something that has really helped me is Dialectical Behavior Therapy or DBT. It is group therapy for all kinds of people- Bipolars, alchoholics, people with borderline personality disorder, etc. I think it should be a class requirement for everyone in junior high or high school because it teaches you skills for coping with life. They teach distress tolerance, healthful choices, emotion regulation, interpersonal effectiveness, and mindfulness. This is a skill set that everyone should have. It teaches ...

My problems

I never know if I've offended someone. I'm always thinking about it. I'm not socially awkward, if I act like someone other than myself, but I don't like doing that.

Really, when I act like myself, I don't talk as much as other people. I've always looked upon that as being socially abnormal, but maybe I'm just different. When I act like myself, however, I don't feel that people like me. I feel like they're ...

A question for men with children...

I have heard a rumor that men will love the children from his second marriage more because he is more in love with his second wife than he was with his first.

Or visa versa, that a man will love his first child more than his others because it was with the woman of his dreams, even though things might have worked out.

Does a man's love towards his woman have any influence on his ...

At the end of the line...

I have to admit that I'm fairly skeptical about the possibility of finding help at this point, but...

I'm a 50 year old woman, and have suffered a variety of psychological symptoms throughout most of my life. I have functioned extremely well from all external appearances - I was very successful professionally, was married for 15 years (to an extreme narcissist - bad combination), and have a very wonderful 10 year old son. All of ...
