Do Ns feel like vampires?

Postby antonia312 » Sun May 29, 2011 7:06 am

After reading the forum for a while, it seems to me that Ns are like vampires, sucking blood (NS) from nons (and other Ns). Once you are done, you just move on. Do Ns have affinities for vampire stories? Or is this a bad analogy?

Only if vampires can suck blood without noticing they're doing it.

(I actually used to like vampires, before all this Anita Blake Twilight True Blood nonsense came about.)

Yeah, when they've read too much Vaknin without really understanding it.
What we are concerned with is narcissism in a pathological sense, with self-love that serves as a cloak for self-hatred. The polarities of self-hatred and self-love are linked together in the defensive system, but the nuclear problem is the self-hatred.

I think the "dealing with a vampire" feeling is going to be true of all PDs you deal with. You are basically dealing with someone who is self-absorbed, and has not completed full maturation to an adult. All PDs are manipulative and seeking to drain energy and elicit reactions from you so they can get certain benefits for themselves.

I don't think Narcs are the worst in this regard, it's just that Narcs and anti-socials are the best known PDs.

The strongest feeling I had in my life of dealing with a "vampire" was from highly depressed avoidant girl. All she would do was talk about how hopeless her situation was. No pessimistic belief of hers was wrong even if 99% of the scientists in the world disagreed with it. Didn't matter how many hours I spent trying to convince her. Never would she ask anything about me. Not even "how are you?" All she wanted to talk about was how depressed she was.

It's a PD thing in general. Nothing specific to Narcs.

I agree. Even my self aware NH does this still. I can now point out to him how his actions/word do this and i can see the twisted look on his face as he is trying to understand.
