Why do you come on this site, really?

Try and be as honest a possible; this is not an "attention seeking" question therefore you have no reason to be uselessly witty.

Are you referring to this particular part of the website (i.e. - the NPD forum) or the web-site as a whole? I come here to help people and to remind myself that there are others out there who are suffering just like me (I have Asperger's Syndrome).

Honestly? Because NPD is a huge defect and I don't like having defects.
Empathy is a perception, a source of information, just like hearing or smelling. To have NPD is to lack this preception, sort of like being blind or deaf. Why should one live with such defect?

Of course one could always chose to tell himself that there is nothing wrong with him. Even he who can't hear and can't smell might regard himself as unique instead of challenged, which is a very dangerous thing: You might end up beliving you have no friends for instance because people are jealous of you or are too dumb to understand you, while in fact they simply can't stand the sound or the smell of your farts.

Talking to people here sort of helps me know what farts smell like and what to eat to avoid them. That's honestly why I am here, what about you?

If you come here to fix your defects too, then I guess you'd find many who would be interested to help. And if you came here to teach us something we don't know , you need to speak in a language that appeals to us, else why in hell would we bother?!!

But if you are here begging for our attention by impressing us with your ranting then take my advice (which I suspect you'd be hearing over and over from almost everyone you meet) and go fart somewhere else.

i come here because it's something to do and it's interesting to see that other people are like me. and i like hearing people's stories about stuff. how a narcissist treated them or narcissistic stories, basically anything amusing. hmmmm yeah.. that's it. and i like typing stuff on here too.
I'd give anything...

Posting on here helped me a great deal with understanding my husband and why things were the way they were. Putting a name to what his issue was was very relieving for me and helped me in realizing that it wasn't going to change. Wonderful people like Shivers and senseatlast, and others really gave me the strength to start standing up for myself again, and not fearing my husband as much, but pitying him.

i found this site looking for answers and hoping to find solutions.

i did find solutions but not necessarily the ones i was looking for! it helps a great deal knowing that you are not alone going through things, and there are always others at different stages of the process!

I believe that most people coming here will at most just get an understanding of themselves better, as both of the previous two posters have mentioned. That's certainly true in my case. I learned pretty much all there is to know about Asperger's Syndrome, but I've also gained a vast amount of knowledge in mental illnesses in general.

are you kidding? clearly, i come on this site to find relief/guidance from and on my problems. which, as you can also probably figure out, involve various mental health issues.
there is hope.

I did say 'most' people, but maybe there are actually more who have got a lot from this website than I think. I suppose I just based my response on the particular forums on this website that I frequent. Never mind, I'm glad that you get so much help from here dude - Really, it's great to hear.

Look after yourself,
Kevin
