you're all a bunch of oversensitive OCD'ers, is what you are

Postby ParadoxicallyStupid » Wed Oct 14, 2015 6:24 am

in the midst of my mania episode and as i am pulling an all nighter i'm going to say something that should've been said a long time ago

this forum is complete sh!te. ya'll a bunch of OCD-like histrionics with WebMD syndrome. none of you are even diagnosed. you read the criteria for NPD and figured it vaguely described some of your behaviors (guess what, so does everyone elses) and proceeded to identify with a subtype of a disorder thats not even medically recognized because it gives you an excuse to sit on your ass all day and victimize yourself instead of working towards self improvement.

sincerely, your lord and savior

It's just not very helpful to post anything like this in a support forum even though this is somehow rant-ish place. Don't agree with you at all. This is a support group. Please.

ya'll a bunch of OCD-like histrionics

"Histrionic people are lively, dramatic, vivacious, enthusiastic, and flirtatious. HPD affects four times as many women as men." (WP)

Not sure what the m/f ratio is on this forum. Definitely not four females to each one male. And there doesn't seem to be very much flirting or drama. As the guy with the awesome accent mentions occasionally, folks around here can be a bit boring to HPD's and others.

Maybe "OCD-like histrionics" just doesn't seem like the right term. It's like a start-up specializing in new foods: "hairy peanut butter," "pickled oranges" or "salted spring water."

OP, do you mean that the detailed and repetitive reviewing by a poster of his/her thoughts and feelings seems to be done simply for dramatic effect? Simply because someone discovers their symptoms on WebMD doesn't mean they don't have the illness/issue. "Just because I'm paranoid doesn't mean... : )

I definitely agree. Most of us are asocial, boring geeks and recluses and refrain from sex and relationships. We are anything but enthusiastic and viviacious. Lively? Feh. Dramatic? Only about ourselves. I don't see much drama here. Oversensitive? You're probably right about that. We do tend to be intelligent. Some of us can be a little OCD at times.

I wonder if the OP might be projecting about the "dramatic HPD" stuff. I only wish I was. HPDs are more fun to be around and better liked.

As the guy with the awesome accent mentions occasionally,

Who would that be?

I needed that. Thanks.

Obviously the OP is referring to the covert Ns who post here. cNPD isn't recognized but it should be and probably will be eventually. In the meantime we have to put up with not having an official diagnosis, being misdiagnosed (or incompletely diagnosed) and not receiving the right sort of treatment/therapy. That's why some of us have decided to be our own therapists and coming here to talk and support each other is a big part of that. It's no cure, but it's better than nothing. It's not "WebMD" syndrome.

Actually, I wasn't triggered by the OP's post. I thought it was a joke.
OP, why are you here? Do you have NPD? Or are you a troll who gets off taking potshots at mentally ill people?

OP, I suggest you read up on covert narcissism. Just Google it or watch some Sam Vaknin videos. He talks about it a lot. It really exists.
Have a nice day.
BPD/AvPD; PTSD; Dysthymia; GAD; NPD (fragile/covert type); Seasonal Affective Disorder; Myers-Briggs INFJ (I know the rainbow colors make me look like an HPD. Deal with it).

pff Vaknin

the same wannabee psychopath who has said himself he's only doing it for the supply. and you guys buy into it like good doggies

plus you apparently you're the one who hasn't watched his stuff. his definition of covert narcissism is vastly different than what everyone pretends to have here.

being an asocial, empathy deficient introvert is not the same as being a covert narcissist. but that's not what you want to hear is it?

Akuma and I have been diagnosed, although the label is not particularly helpful in my case.
So INTJ it hurts

Well seeing as I don't identify myself as a cNPD and having a professional opinion on my mental health as well, I can't relate to anything you're saying. Still it's probably not a good idea to burst in on a support forum and start calling people out.

Neither excuse entitles you to post like an asshat.

I appreciate how everyone in this thread has stepped around the trollness. :D And thus blasted the "oversensitive" label out of the water. [Other labels have been handled by other people already. Just this part struck me.]
