To all fellow sufferers

Postby Dan1 » Tue Aug 14, 2012 7:21 pm

Hello,

I am new here and have never joined or contributed to an internet site of any description before...so not quite sure what to do yet.

However, a few days ago, I discovered, quite by chance, a site discussing BPD and, although I had never heard of the term and did'nt know what it was...I read on.
I was shocked, stunned and truly amazed by what I was reading...and, within a few minutes/hours (after reading a little more on the subject from a variety of sources) felt as though, for the first time, my life and behaviour over the last 40 years (yes, 40 years!!!) made absolute sense and that it is an actual 'condition'...with a 'name'. It was literally as though I had found a 'magic' key and, with one turn, a million chaotic episodes that had occured in my life suddenly clicked into place and made absolute sense....(and I am currently both highly elated and deeply concerned by the situation).
Now I have made this discovery, I am keen to find out more about the condition, meet and chat with others who suffer similarly and, hopefully, find ways of coping with the complexities and debilitating effects of this condition.

Look forward to hearing from you...(anyone?)
Cheers for now

Hi Dan1,

I'm glad you found something that seems to ring true for you and I'm sure you'll find ppl here on this site to relate to. I will, of course, caution you on what we often call "self-diagnosis". Not that you're wrong, but simply because professional diagnosis often leads to resources for you.

I am a diagnosed BPDer and have found some of the members here to have been instrumental to my growth. It's a great site.

The BPD forum has some wise ppl there to help you on your journey.

Welcome to the site.

Hello Dan and welcome to the forum. :D I'm glad to hear that you feel you've found some understanding of what has been going on for you. You might want to check out the BPD forum and speak to some people there about what you feel you have been going through: borderline-personality/

It can be helpful also to seek out a professional opinion so that you can get some help and assistance in real life...
In a way, I am not defined by my dissociation. In a way, I am.
