I'm New Too

Hi. I am really glad to have found this place. There is so much that is helpful here covering such a wide range of topics that I am amazed! I'm here because there's a lot of mental illness in my family. The worst is my mother who I believe (from what I've read) is a sociopath with narcissism as well. I'm wondering if there is information about people who are sociopaths on this forum? Or recommended reading? Thank you.

There is indeed a forum here for sociopathy, but it is named 'Antisocial Personality Disorder', which is its official title in the Diagnostics and Statistics Manual (DSM). Here is the forum: antisocial-personality/ However, I warn you, the forum moves rapidly and you should expect 'blunt' responses by some users to whatever you post there.

Thank you for your information and kind words. Yes, I suffer from dissociative amnesia for one thing. I cannot remember most of my childhood. I am pretty sure at this point, from much research and detective work, that I was sexually abused by my older half brother (who is 11 years older than I). I have also suffered from self cutting, anorexia, suicide attempts (through pills) and alcaholism and depression. My older half sister also suffered (is now dead) from various dissociative disorders, including dissociative amnesia, multiple personality disorder, fugues and the one that killed her - which is most likely a disorder that few know about even here: psychogenic seizures or non-epileptic seizures. One of those seizures finally killed her last year at age 55. Our mother is definitely a psychopath with strains of nacissistic personality disorder. My half brother is also suicidal.

So, I do believe that there could be help for me here and, that my insights might also help others. I just need to make sure I go to the correct sections of this forum. (I have already visited the Antisocial Personality Forum and that was obviously a mistake.)
