Hello - existential crisis guy in Sweden here.

Postby Tahini » Tue Sep 09, 2014 7:32 am

Greetings, community.

I am here to find out more about existential crisis, and how to snap out of it, if it can be done. It has taken me decades to realize that that is the constant condition I seem to have lived my entire life in so far, and I really want to move on from it.

Also, strangely, I've been having the same, vexing dream for over twenty years now. Maybe one has to do with the other.

Perhaps I'll find out how to end that here.

Nice to meet you sir, what a fascinating introduction! I am also new.
What kind of recurring dream?
Perhaps it is a coded copy of something that happened in your childhood? Or not, just something that is plaguing your subconscious,,, these things are common. Do you believe in dream symbols? Have you ever considered seeing a hypnotist--not sure if that is reccomended though.

What kind of state is this?
Have you been diagnosed with a disorder?

Hello!

Sorry for the late reply, I changed computers, and lost a lot of info. Anyway, to answer your questions:

I have not been diagnosed with anything, ever. Perhaps I am simply a hopelessly healthy guy. But the recurring dream is this: I am traveling, I am looking at real estate (always shoddy as hell!), and I am using early '80s Mercedes models to get around. The cars tend to work well, and I am in fact enjoying them hugely, they are wonderful to drive; but the real estate is usually so grotty, it makes my skin crawl. We're talking awful flats and cottages of the absolute bottom end of the pricing scale, and it's all happening in a strangely cheerful spirit of "oh well, considering the price, it's not so bad" (although my stomach is virtually in a knot over these places while that cheerful thinking is going on). And in the background, there's always travel going on, usually over snow, and in places of unbelievable, natural beauty - New Zealand, Canada, Chile... but always catching ferries and trains, picking up rental cars (early '80s Mercedes!) or parking them in fluorescent-lit parking garages with a sense of eternal hurrying-on.

I've been dreaming that $#%^ since 1993, and really want to get off it. It's getting so old on me.
