Thread Previews

A few weeks ago I think there were some updates to the site one day and I noticed that if you scrolled over the link to a thread, a preview of the first bit of text showed up. This only lasted a couple of days or something and then it went back to showing whether or not there are unread posts. Was this some sort of glitch? Is it something that's in the works? Was it removed for a reason? I was glad to see the new feature and then disappointed when it was gone again. I've seen this in other forums and I find it helpful for deciding which threads I want to read. Sometimes a title doesn't give enough information about the topic.

Sorry for the slow reply. I'm not familiar with the feature or glitch that you're describing.

* Do you remember which page you were on when you saw the text preview?
* How/where did the preview display? Was it like a pop-up window?
* And which internet browser were you using at the time?

I can ask the tech support if they know what caused it. I haven't heard about any plans to introduce this feature.

Yeah I had that happen too but it only lasted for that brief few days.

As I had the mouse over a topic title, a little yellow box came up next to the cursor saying the first few sentences of what was written in the first post of the topic...

I'll ask the tech support - maybe they can tell us more.

Tech support advised that it was a new feature that was trialled. However it increased the size of the webpages, causing them to load more slowly. It was removed to keep the webpages as small and quick to load as possible.

Too bad that didn't work out. Thanks for clearing things up anyway.
