I don't imagine that it's much different, but I admit that I have no core evidence as such. What news articles have you been reading to make you arrive at your opinion? Individual nations have their own rules about medication - certainly - but issues such as cost are always (and unfortunately) the biggest thing to consider. In nations where the government funds health-care for everyone, cost is especially important. In the UK, for example, the National Health Service (NHS) provides free health care for everyone, but I have read some stories about expensive medication not being available. In my home country (Ireland), however, I never once read a story about such a thing; and most people have private health insurance in Ireland.
In Canada, I think that the government provides a similar service as the NHS does here in the UK. So, maybe that's the reason, unfortunately.
