Hey,

What were the disastrous results? I sure hope that all is not too bad now... ...The best way to get through this is to get a lot of rest; as much as possible. I alao recommend eating 'good' foodstuffs such as vegetables and herbal teas. These contain chemicals that will aid your liver in the process of detoxifying the last remaining seroquel in your system; and ggood diet in general will then componsate for the seroquel 'craving' that your body will feel once the seroquel has actually all been detoxified.

thanks for your reply

I suffered crippling anxiety when I dropped the dose (my initial dose was 600mg...a story in itself).

i should have clarified how the Akathesia affects me. About 45 minutes after taking tables, i get a buzzing feeling in my hands and feet and cannot keep my legs still otherwise I feel like, well its hard to describe, like my skin is turning inside out.

Getting fed up with 'wiggling' to sleep  . When I wake up in the morning the symptoms go but during the day I get very tired and it returns....again, I sleep it off. Losing week and months to sleep !!

Is there anything to combat this particular symptom? I already take 20mg daily of Omeprazole to counter another Seroquel side effects.....a bitter pill indeed.

p.s. I am very sensitive to medication and over the past 5 years must have been taken off 15 types of med because of side effects (I promise i'm not neurotic :P ) and have been hospitalised twice to start a course of medication under supervision (if you could call it that). Ironically, when they put me on Lithium I was unsupervised. ECT was also suggested....I changed Shrinks LOL.

Hey I juist noticed your avatar - It's pretty cool but I've no idea which cartoon it is. Care to tell...? You never actuially mentioned if you had raised this issue of side effects with your doctor either (or did you)? Also, was it you who decided to change the dosages or was it the doctor? When I face something like this, I just say to myself that if I just bear the pain for a while, then I'll get through it. Just picture yourself as a steamroller or something - i.e. nothing will stop you from moving forward. The side-effects should vanish if you dont change any medication/dosages, and if you eat and sleep well. Perhaps try a hot cup of tea before bed. I find that this helps me sleep.

That is a $%^&load of seroquel. 50mg knocks me out like a desert eagle.

PS - Front page of the Wall Street Journal about 3 weeks ago - Seroquel on average makes patients gain 8-15% of their bodyweight within 3 months. It also doubles risk for heart attack. Bad stuff dude. I'm sorry you're on so much...

That weight-gain could be merely due to water retention, and as such it would be lost once the medication is stopped.

Thanks. Family Guy was actually my primary guess, but I don't ever recall seeing that little chap in it. Then again, I'd never watched an episode of it. I only guessed based on the shading of colours and style of drawing.

I was experiencing akathesia with geodon. I described what I was experiencing to my doctor and he prescribed Benzatropine (Cogentin) that took care of it for me.
