Don't forget Tau Day is coming!

(If you're lost, you must have missed that last τ vs π video.)

Image
This person marks a whole pie as τ/2, I suppose because a circle's area is πr², which is half of τr². Vi Hart marks a whole pie as τ (while a half-pie is π) because a full circle has an angular measure of τ (that is, 2π) radians. I prefer to think of the pies in terms of their area, because when someone asks, "But what do you eat on Tau Day?" I say that since τ is 2π, we eat twice as much pie!

Knowledge: I'm a π hater. :3 I just love τ more because it makes sense. But I still like π a little.

Almost forgot! Did I never post Numberphile's Pi with Pies videos? Well, there they are. If you can't watch them, maybe you can still look at the photos, starting here.

I was with my family for Tau Day and wasn't online on Casual Pi Day, but I've no excuse for missing your birthday, Adam. Sorry. ):

Some of the image links in my OP have died, so...

What? Still confused?

Now that you're into the spirit of it (assuming you're still with me), the best way to celebrate Pi Day is with, well...

PIE!
Fixed,...sort of.

Celebrating Pi... Is that a thing?

Personally I can't stand anything above Algebra (Trig, Calc, Diff. Eq., Matrix Theory), as it gets to the point of tedium.

However, more power to you if you like that stuff.

Don't forget Gödel's Incompleteness Theorems.

√-1 2³ Σ π
...and it was delicious.

I wondered why I didn't see a notice about the winners of the pie contest at Instructables this week. Because it's celebrating Pi Month (3/14) this year, the contest ends when the month does.

There may be more fun ahead for users of some other bases, anyway. Image

I once memorized it to 404 places, in honor of the HTTP error. Imagine my dismay when they declared 405 places? They counted the three. Who the f**k counts the three?

March 14th is too cliché for real nerds, anyway. February 7th is where it's at.
