And of course all the already mentioned old stuff like Monty Python, HHGTTG, Blackadder, The Young Ones *sigh*. Thank you Britain.

Ah, the Young Ones. That was the last bit of TV I watched, for the most part. After that I gave it up wholesale.

When my mania hits, I lock the entryways to the old homestead and bunker in with old movies and docs. Mostly docs. The rest is rubbish.

The s.o. is watching the American version he's also in. Same story, different accent....

Yep, they remade it in America & Tennant played the same part without his Scottish accent. Huh? Why? Immutable rule = no matter what accent you're talking in, Scottish is always better haha.

Yeah I don't get the whole remake thing in general. Err..unless it's because the local accents are difficult to understand for the audience. That makes some sense. I think I've watched so much UK TV that I'm just used to them.

The Young Ones was great. It established for me, a long-running, serious crush on Rik Mayall. I can't explain it. He's a damn fine comedian, but his character was a pimply faced, lispy, Cliff Richard-loving prat (played convincingly), but still made me go weak-kneed. I was equally smitten by him in Drop Dead Fred. Equally unexplainable - he wasn’t exactly going for suave and sexy :? Dunno what that tells you about me lol.

America has a thing for ripping off British television and repackaging it.

It says you don't fall for the same old, same old. Good for you! Though I imagine you were as shocked as I was, when I heard about Rik's passing.

Yes! There was supposed to be a remake of Fawlty Towers with Bea Arthur as the female Basil. Never saw it. Apparently it didn't get very far.

Yep, it was so out of the blue (Rik's death). Incredibly sad :( . RIP you fine, fine man.

Oh god a Fawlty Towers remake. Noooo. Sacrilege! I suppose I felt that way about The Office though & (although I couldn't bring myself to watch the remake), I hear it was pretty decent.

I hear the remake of my all time favourite (Skins UK) was a travesty of epic proportions though. Glad I didn't see it, I might have been tempted to do harm to my precious TV.

Err, something about me, Economics was my fave subject at school/uni & (along with quantum physics) is my go-to topic for boring people at dinner parties.

It's amazing that Fawlty Towers is still spoken about considering there were only ever 12 episodes made.

TYO's was great, as was Blackadder - now that humour was right up my alley. Especially Blackadder II. Queenie was hilarious. As was Baldrick and his "cunning plan" ha ha.

Only fools and Horses was one of my favourites growing up. "Rodney you plonker." I don't believe there is a Brit who wouldn't agree with that.

My best subjects are sport (as in knowledge not playing) and Geography. Pretty good at languages. In school my favourite subjects were art and french.

Fascinating.

Of course I can't think of Bea Arthur without thinking of the movie Airheads. IIRC one of their hostage 'demands' was a photo of Bea Arthur naked.

Well let's see I slept thru math my senior year. Barely squeaked by in my chosen vocational shop class, hm. Hated phys ed. I took a course called Computer Math which was really just a course in BASIC programming... I quite liked it....

Wow that sounded old even to me. We had a Commodore PET. A PET!!!! I wonder if some hotshot ever tried The Killer Poke on it...

We had a ZX Spectrum (Manic Miner was my favourite) and Commodore 64.

I hated maths. Still do. I have a mental block with it I think.

Oh and back to British TV of old - AbFab. I forgot about AbFab. Apparently they're making a movie of it this year. :) I loved Bubble.

Ab Fab!! I loved that show!! That would be later on from the time period I mentioned but I adored Ab Fab.

Ah, Sinclair......

My first 'puter was a ZX80 I bought at a hamfest. Then I built the ZX81 in kit form. Layer I had the US take on the Speccy- the Timex Sinclair 2068. I still have that one. I was more proud of that ZX80 than anything I could own today. It's like your first car, or your first place of your own. It was glorious. Even if my Trash 80 friend made fun of it.

I always regretted not getting a QL...

My first computer was a Commodore 64. Back then we were playing graphically intense games like, uh, Zork.
