Have you ever experienced telepathy?

Postby Hammer » Wed Apr 28, 2010 6:09 pm

I've never had an experience with picking up someone else's thoughts (that I know of) but I've had plenty of experiences thinking of random things and just having someone start talking about it out of the middle of no where.

The most recent were 2 days ago I was out and I was txting a friend about a TV show and a funny picture I saw online to go with it. I forgot to mention Wine and thought I should have but then decided not to send another text. Right after that a few girls started talking about wine out of no where when their conversation was just talking about their day right before that.

Then yesterday I was in the topic about video games and I was thinking of all my game consoles I have in a tub out in the garage, I mean we haven't touched the tub in years but soon after that my brother came downstairs and asked me if I knew where the tub was in the garage because he wanted to play the games.

I've also made friends believe me when we were having a conversation about something and they knew the topic completely but I just knew basics and thought up random BS facts about the topic, then I told them that I don't actually even know what we are talking about :p

I wish we knew more about harnessing the power of our minds.

It's interesting to bring this issue up. I firmly believe that I have experienced telepathy, but I can also explain it scuentifically. Brain 'waves', are just electrical impulses, right? Every electrical impulse has an associated electromagnetic field. I firmly believe that some people are more sensitive at perceiving another persin's electromagnetic fields induced by brain waves. For example, if I'm sitting beside someone and they start thinking of a pig, the associated electromagnetic field from that though (the pig) might be picked up by my brain without me realising it.

I also wonder how much of our dreams are induced by other people. I was reading a book one night and there was something in it about spiders, the morning when my friend woke up she told me she had a nightmare about spiders. There have also been studies done where people project ideas into a sleeping persons head by reading near them. It seems kind of scary if science were to find a sure fire way to put ideas in our heads. They could brainwash the entire country

With the amount of research currently in memory and brain functions, I would'nt be surprised if people could have certain memories 'implanted' into their heads, memories that they might never have actually experienced. Think of Total Recall... ...that's what it'll be like (less the fighting and less Arnold Schwarzenegger of course).

It could have some benefits such as people that have had a traumatic experience, I know there are some memories that I have that I'd like to change or erase completely. It's been too long since I've seen Total Recall so I can't remember it but there is a movie called Push about humans with different super human abilities. In it Pushers are the people that can put memories in your head and make you believe in something that never happened. Another one I am reminded of is Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind about a company that specializes in erasing all the memories of a loved one in your life. I love that movie! :)

What Chucky said was interesting about the bio electric fields generated by brains. l wonder if there is a connection here to empathy, and that people like myself who are not so good with empathy are not so sensitive in this area?. Jungs theories about the collective unconscious are interesting. l have had a couple of dreams that came true, and once had an urge to phone a friend, feeling something was wrong, and she told me she was just about to phone me because her mother had died, but l am not convinced either way, just open minded. l am into Reiki and spirituality with a healthy acceptance and scepticism about psychic phenonoma. l once saw a psychic who was so accurate she freaked me out By the way this is the first time l have visited Just for Fun. lt can be draining at times posting on Psychforums, and this light relief is great. lt's nice not to talk about my condition sometimes, l don't want to become defined by it.

Hmm, I have had similar experiences as you, janey. My brother's wife, for example, had a thought at one time that I was in serious trouble, and indeed I had to go to hospital. She is into yoga and spiritualism, and is a former ballet dancer. Many years ago, I talked to a psychic too who said things about me that she quite simplyt should not have known, and she mentioned things about the immediate future which came true. I cannot explain it to this day, but I firmly believe what I said about one person's brain's electromagnetic fields being 'read' by other peoples' brains.

Sometimes I figure out when people are lying after they've said something :)

Apart from that, I enjoy reading my own mind, making sure I'm in the same place as everyone else, completely losing direction of anyone else, and predicting people's puzzled responses. :)

I almost feel like there is some kind of collective consciousness to tap into.
