Putting the story back in history

I'd like to share one of my favorite paintings, Princess Elizabeth in Prison, (by John Everett Millais).

I also highly recommend reading this one-page story of How Princess Elizabeth Became a Prisoner. It reads much like a fairy tale IMO.

Here, the princess is petitioning that a few of her loyal servants be allowed to come to her in her tower prison where she's forced to stay, cut off from the outside world by order of her sister, the queen.

Here's a larger version in an online .pdf document I found.

I found a larger version on Google Books of all places, (so it requires .pdf software).
It's nice because you can zoom in too.
