Dare Me by Megan Abbott
About a bunch of high school cheerleaders and their coach. A lot of social tension and unspoken dominance plays for power. Some of the characters seem downright psychopathic. Described like a young female Fight Club, which I suppose it does have that quiet, cerebral, and impending doom feel that Fight Club has (along with more obvious traits such as a selective club). The book is also a coming of age novel. Pretty good so far.

How Should a Person Be? by Sheila Heti
Young woman (artist style) is questioning who she is (if anyone). Autobiographical and flows more freely than a standard story; no clear story line. Very introspect. Is good so far but I'm not far in and I worry about the longevity of the piece with its ability to stay interesting.

Finished Dare Me, it was pretty good. I'd say deception and coming of age are the biggest themes. Thinking of reading another book by the same author:

I'm currently reading Brigitte Riebe's "Pforten der Nacht" in Dutch translation, "Poorten van de nacht". The English title is "Doors at night."

As children, they become bloodbrothers. That bond unravels as both Johannes, son of the rich salesman Jan van der Hulst, and the Jewish Esra, adopted nephew of a rabbi, fall in love with the same girl: Anna. Anna is a half orphan in the painter's quarter who has to be independent at a very young age. In a drunk stupor, Johannes rapes Anna and then flees to the monastery. Because of his Jewish background, Esra is hesitant to show his feelings for Anna. He suffers more and more from the disdain of the Cologne citizens for the Jews, who are being blamed for the outbreak of the Black Death. He decides to flee to Venice.

"Doors at night" tells the life stories of three socially very different people and their families against the magical background of the Black Death and the pogroms. It's a thrilling story about surviving in medieval Cologne, Venice and Bruges, about rich salesmen, monks, beguines, craftsmen, Jews and magistrates. A colourful story filled with intrigue, treachery, lust, power and love. "Doors at night" is suspenseful, credible and moving.

I'm reading this book for my history exam. I've only just started, but I love it already.
Always the years between us, Leonard. Always the years, always the love, always the hours.

I'm reading "Catching Fire" by Suzanne Collins, it's the second book of The Hunger Games trilogy.
It's been a while since I've read a book this enjoyable.

I'm reading Breaking Dawn. It's the forth book to Twilight, or whatever. It's really good! I don't want it to end! :)

The Hotel of Irrevocable Acts
Reads like a novel written by a schizotypy. :)

"Point Counter Point" by Aldous Huxley, the main thing I've noticed so far is that he goes into a great deal of detail describing the characters thoughts and each fleeting emotion. Also infidelity seems to be a theme, probably one of many.
I don't believe everything I think.
Reality and fantasy are sometimes best kept separate.
