I do understand, but I just don't feel like someone like Obama making the promises for change will fulfill it.
I really wish I could have seen the elections Nixon, Teddy, Franklin, JFK, and even Lincoln made. If you look at Lincoln's past, he had a whole history of learning, being honest, and holding what's right in his life.
We just don't have that anymore. Everyone wants this job now, and they'll do anything to get it. It's sad really.
I don't like America personally, I believe it has a lot of flaws, and in my mental state, these flaws aren't good. I think there are a lot of things Hillary wants to do, I don't agree with. I believe we should pull out of the war right now, but not leave ourselves defenseless. I don't feel like explaining that right now though.
Anyways, both seem promising, it's just Hillary seemed to win my heart personality wise. Meaning, let's hope Obama wins. Because Bush had my heart too. I really thought he was good for our country. Then not even a year later, I realized what a fool I was. Hopefully, my instincts learned from past experiences, but, I'm not sure.
Haha, strange I know, but it's true.
I just hope whoever we get, does a good job. I'm pretty much split between Obama and Clinton, they both seem very good to me. But then again, I'm only 13, and my opinion doesn't matter yet.
Peace,
Mike
Teddy Roosevelt was never elected; he got sworn in after Mckinley was assassinated in Buffalo, New York. JFK might have been young, but Teddy Roosevelt was the youngest president this country has ever seen when he was sworn into office. Even so, Teddy Roosevelt was a great man, and he did enough that none of the recent presidents (excepting Reagan perhaps) can really compare with him. Here are a few of the things about him which stand out:
He was once a cowboy.
He established the first national parks. (Although he did this for a different reason than most environmentalists today will remember; He did it so that hunters would have game to shoot in the future, and also because he did not want the government taking the beautiful land away from the public.)
He once refused to shoot a bear cub that his men caught for him when he was hunting, even though this meant he had to return empty handed from the hunt. Toy store dealers started selling "Teddy's bear" stuffed animals, which is why "teddy bears" have their name today.
He sought re-election with the Bull Moose Party instead of the Democratic or Republican Party, which was unusual. He did not get elected again, but even so, it is noteworthy!
After his term in office, he explored the Amazon rain forest by going up the Madeira River, which was still not greatly known to Americans from the U.S. (To distinguish from the natives of that area).
Anyway, my point is this: even though he was note voted into office, Teddy Roosevelt was among our nation's greatest leaders.
The only reason the government pays for my college education is so I will pay them more money in taxes throughout my lifetime. Now, if they are expecting me to like them for it, tough $#%^.
