What movies/ tv shows have you watched lately?

Loved The Last of Us

I'm waiting for season two, and like the post-apocalyptic genre in general, as well as HBO production. Other than that, I am still somewhere in season 5 of Mad Men, I watched one episode of (I think it's a) sci-fi mystery 1899, and a couple of episodes of Korean drama Pachinko, one or two episodes of Yellowjackets, thematically reminds of Lost, and I thought the Lord of the Rings adaptation wasn't too bad. As for movies, I usually find various festival etc. nominations to watch, Cannes, Sundance etc, but didn't really watch a movie in a couple of weeks at least.

I watched an episode of Made for Love (HBO Max), not sure I'll continue watching.

The show I really liked in the previous year - Station Eleven, post-apocalyptic and poetic.

Kill Boksoon - certainly makes a change for woke American Family Schmaltz.

The Gentlemen - certainly makes a change from The Justice League of Manchuria.

Screen Cleaner - Helps clean up the mess after John Wick.

Love the Mess. Love the Algorithms.

I'm watching episode 6 of Silo, didn't really watch a lot of dystopian dramas.

I watched season 2 of Wheel of Time, think it was better than season 1. I read there were initially a lot of similarities with LotR series but season 2 diverged not only from LotR references but also from the original WoT book material.

And I wondered about the concept of Aes Sedai and their inability to lie. Wonder what it was based on (in rl).

Wheel of time got so much better in season 2. Also the effects got better too.

I read the first few books in the series (it's a huge book series !) and that was my impression as well. Initially it was very inspired by Lord of the Rings, but then it finds it's own voice and becomes something really unique & interesting.

I have to admit I liked it more than Rings of Power

Rand reminds me of Anakin, and I liked both Lord of the Rings and Star Wars as a kid, so if there needed to be movie references, those were okay for me. As is any show attempting to be unique, but I don't think it's a must for a show to be good. Most or all shows probably have a reference point.

I also watched a season one of Discovery of Witches, finishing season two of Invasion, and I thought of watching season two of Foundation. The series For all Mankind is relatively often mentioned but didn't watch it yet. Sandman was okay too.
