I've just put this on my laptop...

was just thinking with this being an internet forum... people here are likely to be spending time online, probably in the evenings.

might be worth a try?

was it just coincidence that when I went to look at that site the page background was the exact same colour as my indoor lights at the time? weird...

lol! I think that's what they were trying to do... moving the screen output away from daylight colours so it doesn't mess with your body clock.

Turns out it does stop using the laptop from keeping me awake... though for me personally, that doesn't seem to help me sleep earlier, but it does stop it keeping me up any later than would go to sleep without.

That's good. It sounds like it has had some positive benefit for you then, even if it is small. Do you usually have troubles with sleeping generally? I sure do...

Thank you so much this is very cool. My computer does keep me awake some times at night and on nights like this where it's one am I give up on sleep and head to vent online...I always feaqr that I will be making it worse by setting myself in front of a bright looming screene so thanks.

Read some of the articles on that F.lux website. I am just starting to work with both getting off the computer earlier in the evening and wearing amber safety glasses (blue-light-blockers) several hours before bed.

My eyes tend to start stinging a bit around 2AM if I'm on my PC, but this has taken most of the edge off of that, thanks for posting it!

What a novel application! Much obliged to the OP for suggesting it.

I'm an insomniac as well, and to make matters worse I usually fiddle with photo manips/graphics throughout the wee hours. Focusing on the stark screen and minuscule details often makes it so that when I do finally feel that first tug of sleep, my eyes are so raw its impossible to rest.

I honestly felt the muscles in my brow and around my eyes relax as soon as the halogen effect activated.

Loving this already.

I have to say, I am loving the F.lux. It has helped me so much with being able to sleep better after using the computer and it's much easier on my eyes at night time. It's good enough that now I sound like an advert for it!
