mixing meds to fall asleep

Postby Hamlet » Sun Oct 30, 2011 7:47 am

My body is soooo dang messed up for exaple three nights ago I didn't sleep all.. after going 35 hours with out sleep I passed out on a sofa almost instanously, which is good for me since I have had periods where I only got like five hours of sleep over three days. I don't reallllly know why I can't sleep but mostly I get ansy and hyper and once my ADHD meds wear off I can't seem to stay still in bed. It's now like past 2:30 am and I'm not at all tired and I have to be at work at 3:00pm in the afternoon tomorrow so my normal habit w/o meds won't work for tonight( without meds I won't get tired till 4 am and fall asleep at like 6/8 am in which case I may not wake up till three in the afternoon) I recently started taking a major drug holiday off ambein and on to lunesta so as not to get used to ambein. last night I took an abein at ten and I fell aslep at 7 am waking up at 1pm...So I made the damn choice to do the deadly but sure firer way to fall asleep. I MIXED A KLONIPIN W/ A CUP OF WINE. I only do this when I'm supper deperate which I am. I know this can cause me to have a lower heart rate I know this can cause slowed down breathing and if I do it right that's pretty much sleep for me. But I'm scared and I'm trying to clear my consious and confess doing this because I'm scared and live in fear that if I keep doing this or get used to doing it or mix to mush alchol with Klopin... well I'm scared I'm going to kill myself in effort to normalize my sleep pattern  :| what I'm looking for in responce to this post my soul is conflicted over I feel I either need someone to respond who knows what I'm talking about and can tell me how to mix the drug correctly or someone to tell me off but part of me serouisly also wants someone to tell me that doing this does not make me a drug abuser and is not my fault and I'm okay and this will all go away and I will once again be able to fall asleep at 10pm like a desant person and wake up at 8 am fully rested.
Also I feel I need a comunity for this sleeping problem because I tend to get super lonely at about 3am after being in bed since 10pm or 11pm, and this leads me to get sad sometimes and feel despair. So how many of you are up at 3 am central daylight time in the U.S.?

Howdy, Hamlet. How you doin today? (Or tonight, whichever it is for you.)

Honestly? You are not a drug abuser. You simply want to go to sleep. But yes, this is very dangerous.
Have you talked to your doctors about this? Maybe they can give you sleeping medicine or ADHD-midnight-pills. Or they can suggest a higher dosage of your medications or I don't know. But I recommend going to your doctor for sure. I'm not a professional and I cannot tell you what medicine to take or how much because I don't know how your body will react too it. So, really, the only person that can help you in this situation is your doctor.
Please do not try to mix medicines again. I'm very worried about you and I know it's all in good intention and I feel bad cause all you want to do is sleep. But, for now, staying up a while is better then being in the hospital looking like you overdosed, right?

Thinking of you, stay safe.

Hamlet,
Believe me, I understand you desperation. I have a lot of experience with insomnia, but ADHD is not something I know. I grew up with some friends with the problem, but 45 years ago, it was called hyperactivity, and the doctors were completely clueless. It sounds like they have a better handle on it these days, but the treatments are far from perfect.
It sounds like you need to stay on the ADHD meds. If they are causing some unpleasant side effect, talk to your doctor and get something else.
I use meditation to calm my thoughts at night, but I can't say whether that would work for you. It certainly would not hurt, and there are no side effects. Meditation is no substitute for the meds you need, but it could provide some modest additional benefit.

be careful

Hi Hamlet,

Its so pathetic reading through your problem. You seems to have exhausted any known medication for this problem which is why you opted to mix the combo of what you stated above . Sleeping disorder is a matter of serious concern to the sufferer hence you shouldn't blame yourself for going that far(mixing meds to fall asleep) after all, you were doing it to help yourself. However, Don't try such combo in the future, it could be dangerous to your health. Am sure BioDream would have been better than the combo meds. So, I will advise you to see your doctor asap cos this is not something you can manage by yourself considering the fact that you've already taken Lunesta and ambien.
