Curious as to what this is

Postby Crytic » Mon Apr 12, 2010 3:26 pm

So, I'm 16; male and healthy. I have a part time job and I work hard for an average of 80% in all my courses. I'm starting to receive random disrupted sleeps. When this first occurred it was maybe 1-3 times a week, not it has stretched out to a full 7 days of the week. My brain will not shut off, I'm chronically thinking of mathematical problems in my head for instance I try to calculate how many birds their will be in my complex based off of the averages of my knowledge that a bird will lay an average of 3 eggs, one will most likely not survive. Or things like If I hear a noise, how far away is it. Sometimes I will go off thinking about certain situations that I know are most likely not true. I'm becoming zombie like during the day, large heavy black circles around my eyes. I do play video games, from 6- 11pm, then I try to sleep or on occasions I eat prior to my sleep. I have yet to go see my doctor about this, I have tried listening to some soft music; it just happens to make my body tiered but my brain will continue to analyze. I'm getting tiered of being tiered; can someone please identify if I do have insomnia and the best possible ways to treating it?

Hi Crytic,

Welcome to the forums. :)

Question about video games: do you play them the way I do (practically drooling  ), or are you the FPS type (pumping adrenaline)? Just an idea, but if your brain has become accustomed to processing lots of information (enemies from all sides, terrain recognition) right before bed, I'm wondering if that's a sign for your brain to continue processing them for several more hours?

How much exercise do you get?

Do you eat a big meal before bed or is it just a snack?

Also, how worried are you about school?

Do not take my advice before talking to your doctor/counselor/other professional. Depending on where you live, you may be able to find free, confidential care. Most importantly, sometimes your shrink can be wrong. Get a second opinion.
