Need a strong combo

Postby Vigilant994 » Thu Mar 29, 2018 2:22 am

I have not found a sleeping pill that will put me to sleep. It usually takes a double dose. I have tried Ambien and Klonopin together, and it did not work. Can someone please recommend a combination that will put me to sleep? Thanks.

please be very careful here. it isn't remotely unusual for people to accidentally double dose, and as you're deliberately double dosing you could accidentally quadruple dose. sleeping pills can be fatal in overdose.

Have you spoken to your doctor to see if he/she can prescribe something that will work better for you?

Vigilant994 -
You've started 2 topics now basically asking the same thing and you've received some very good answers from your peers. What answer are you looking for?
We really can't suggest what drug classes are best for you, even if drugs are indicated. Looking for something "to knock you out", sounds very dangerous and foolish. We aren't professionals here and everyone's situation is different.
You really need to consult with your personal physician. They can refer you on to a sleep specialist (insurance companies like it that way).
There may be other remedies suggested other than potentially habit-forming drugs that could foster dependence on them.
I think that the physician's conventional wisdom is changing in regards to prescribing meds that may become addictive because of this opioid crisis thing.
My wife was selected for a sleep apnea study, but declined because it would be an overnight test wearing a mask. I have gently tried talking her into it. Her breathing isn't right sometimes while sleeping (and that keeps me awake too).
Best of luck to you. :D

My doctor is an idiot. I am in the process of changing doctors.

Agree. Finding a doctor that can work with you is the first order of business.
I'm sorry that a good night's sleep is an issue for you. I know that poor sleep means poor activity and thinking the next day.
What do you do for the hour before bedtime? Anything to relax?
Eat? Drink? Smoke? Coffee? Drugs? Work hours? Living situation? General health? What else is going on?
These are all questions a doctor will ask you.
You may be asked to participate in an overnight sleep monitoring study at a facility other than at home in your own bad. Have you tried this yet?
So far, my wife won't do this because they won't let her smoke cigarettes before and while the study is underway. Cigarettes may be her biggest sleep (apnea)/breathing problem and I think that she knows this too. That's why she won't do the diagnostic study.
The doctor must always diagnose first.

i hope you find a good one.. i had one of those some years ago, and am much happier with my current one (who actually listens and considers my wishes).

Wally has some really good questions and suggestions there, and i really hope you can get to see a decent doc soon - lack of sleep is awful.
