Insomnia and Sleep Apnea?

Postby PetLover » Mon Jan 08, 2018 4:24 pm

I recently got a FitBit Alta and it tells me about my sleep patterns. I have insomnia and take sleeping medication but at a higher dose I'm always sleeping and exhausted, and at my current dose I just dont feel rested either, but at least I dont sleep for 14 hours and take a three hour nap during the day. (my working hours are limited because I'm not mentally able to handle too much yet)
Anyways my fitbit says I wake up around 50 to 80 times a night. My husband told me, after looking at it, that he's woken up to me not breathing a number of times which is common with sleep apnea. Also I snore. I'm going to go in to get diagnosed one way or the other. However I'm a little worried because I read that with sleep apnea you shouldn't take sleeping medications. Without my meds I sleep a very interrupted two hours a night. Usually about 2AM to 4AM, but I do wake up alot during that time. Honestly, I greatly prefer sleeping 14 hours and taking a three hour nap to barely sleeping two hours.
Does anyone have sleep apnea AND insomnia? What do you do?

More precisely, only a doctor can say. Fitness tracker also has an error.

You might be having hypoapneas from severe sleep deprivation.
