I have almost been on proac. 3 years ago someone convinced me to go off it. Depression came roaring back... But now since then I have it impossible to fall asleep. In this time I have tried zopiclone. Worked loke agic for a whol year! Near the end I was even splittimg the tabs to try reducing it.... Then randomly one day... I could take 4 and I'd be wide awake with the metallic taste in my mouth. So then he said yioir worrying too much try quetiapin. I did. A tiny bit of a pill KNOCKED ME OUT unfortunately I was way too tired the next day so he said okay try solpidem. This was tabs (Canada rules) and didn't work. Tabsnever work on me... So righ now I'm 1tablet trazadonr 1 tablet clonazopan. Worked great....until now... So I thought hey! Quietipine I have some... Took 2 pills... ZERO EFFECT!!! what the heck is going on!?!? I'm not having to take like 4 of each just to sleep and feeling terrible all day because of it.. I have gone through 4 different doctors and none of them around here will try anything else. They said there's not much they can do.. Well I'm suffering. I'm TERRIFIED of not sleeping 8 hours.... Because I'm so just depressed the next morning.... Also btw I have tried Valerian and several other herbal remedies all with no success.....

Hello,

quetiapine is a weird beast. Doses of 25-100 mg are sedating. 200 mg up -- not sedating. So taking two pills could actually be the problem with this particular med.

If possible, look up "sleep psychologist" online in your area. I went to a "sleeping course" with a psychologist, we drew diagrams about my sleep patterns, I learned sleep hygiene and with her help managed to get completely off sleeping meds. When my bipolar started raging again -- I got manic -- I became insomniac again, and had to resort to sleep meds for a short time, but once the mania ended I went back to using the methods I learned from the psychologist and slowly tapered off the sleep med. I am on 300 mg quetiapine now for my bipolar, sleep about 9 hours a night, and don't need any additional sleep meds.

I hope this is a bit helpful. Big hugs and best wishes.
Currently working on my upcoming signature.
