OK nath455 it looks like I'm the only one so far to take on your challenge.
Yes there are things you can do without ingesting a thing.
You can lower your irritability using a long sound loop of crashing waves or rainfall this has the power to distract you away from irritation with the environment.
You can learn to control your ability not to be jolted awake by bad dreams you first need to identify your dreaming . you can tell your dreaming by the luminescence over detail difference.
Once you know your dreaming you need to learn to let the dream continue.
If your worried in your dream you need to be awake stop wait for the dream to change
If your being stabbed in your dream squeeze the knife know its only electrical energy.
If you fall slow yourself down towards the end
Another trick is to defocus your mind by inducing phylosophical reasoning through self hypnosis .
My favorite two speech loops are `death` pause `it insnt real` pause `its an illusion` pause `nature wants to thrive`
Or simply to remind my self to research by simply saying research every 7.8 seconds.
Another technique is yoga or thiche.
Simply forcing yourself awake every morning can give you some sort of pattern.
Avoiding ingesting things like stimulants or red meat to late can help
