Long-term insomnia

Postby BeeMunchi » Wed Jul 23, 2014 12:17 pm

Hello,

I am 28 years old and I have suffered from insomnia for about 4 years, although I've had sleeping troubles since I was a teenager.

I was very troubled as a teenager, suffering from social anxiety and depression, which culminated at the age of 22 when I attempted suicide.

Afterwards I decided to turn my life around, which really happened about 2 years later when I met someone. However, strangely it's also at this time that my sleeping troubles became more severe.

Since then I have been feeling much better, except for constant fatigue and anxiety caused by insomnia. But I don't have suicidal thoughts or depression anymore.

I've tried several self-treatment for insomnia, like CBT, relaxation, yoga, but nothing worked.

I don't know what to do anymore so I come for advice.

Thank you in advance for your help.

Hi,
My Name is Holly. I also suffer from global and terminal insomnia. Sorry, I'm a nurse...that basically means, I have trouble getting to sleep and staying asleep. I have had it for years. I have a long Hx of Major Depressive Disorder and PTSD, and now recently had a psychotic episode because I only slept due to anxiety about a job, for 2 hours a night for 3 weeks, and didn't shut my eyes for 5 nights in a row! Well, I ended up hallucinating, and being totally delusional...I've never done that. Ever. Long story short....there may be an underlying reason for your insomnia. It could be something physical like sleep apnea (ask your partner if he/she notices that you snore heavily, and stops breathing at night at intervals), or it could be just the anxiety of the days. You could also have an underlying psychological disorder, that you might not be aware of. Sleeping meds never worked for me. My mind races too much for meditation. lol I think this last episode for me throws me into the Bi-Polar 2 category, unfortunately. I'll deal with it the way I have everything else in my life......do what it takes to get er done. Start with a good physical by your Dr, and then maybe seek counseling. *mod edit*

Hello BeeMunchi,

My lack of sleep was work-related but I suffered severely. My legs would swell up from sitting all day at the computer trying to meet deadlines and I would get mentally delirious and it was killing me. Long story short, I ended up out of survival necessity stumbling onto a sleeping method that literally fixed my physical problems and gave me my life back. Not only that, it literally made me mentally sharper and physically stronger than I had experienced from regular sleep. I've now been sleeping like this for 10 years, and to my knowledge no one in the world has slept like this before. I don't know if it's a cure for you but I recently realized I needed to at least share it with people like you who are suffering from lack of sleep. It truly has changed my life and I feel like the whole world should be sleeping like this because it's just the natural way the body works. I will send you a link that shows you how I sleep if you want. I would post it here but the last thing I want to do is give anyone that truly needs help the wrong impression.
