alcohol and sleep - anxiety

Postby sk12345 » Sat Feb 08, 2014 6:31 pm

I have never been a great sleeper and have always slept very lightly. My sleeping has deteriorated in the past 5-6 years. Drinking alcohol has always had a negative impact on my sleeping, causing me to go into a very light, disturbed sleep and feel unrefreshed the next day. The amount of alcohol that I am able to drink while still being able to sleep has decreased and decreased. Now, I am at the stage where I have developed an anxiety with drinking any kind of alcohol. If I drink even a tiny amount, or even food containing alcohol, I do not sleep properly. I'm sure that this is psychological and that my inability to sleep is due to how much I worry about consuming alcohol. I am desperate to improve things. Have tried hypnotherapy but no success, unfortunately. Has anyone experienced something similar? Any tips for getting myself into a more calm, positive mind-set?
