How can I be less impressionable?

Postby xod_s » Wed Nov 30, 2011 2:00 am

This is like my second posting just to say.I'm posting it here b/c I don't know under what category this would go under.Although I've got to say there's plenty of topics where I could see myself posting questions about but not soon b/c I'm going to be pretty busy until near the end of the year.Anyways (on to my topic) I think I'm to impressionable or at least my mind is.I'm a full grown adult and I still find that I'm easily influenced by what people say and do as well as what I see (particulary with youtube).Definately not as much so as when I was little but still substantionally. At most I ussually find my self second guessing my self b/c I was influenced by something that was said and/or done. With youtube in particular the message of a video (ex.an inappropriate song) will stay in my mind and when I see another video (ex.a video about poverty) my mind thinks of something based on the probable perspective that would come from the inappropriate person and because of that my mind thinks about the inversion of what is good instead. Is there anyway to solve this?.I'm sorry if my writing and/or what I'm talking about is'nt very clear.I'll try to clarify if need be.Thank you very much so for your time.

Hi, xod_s! Have you ever seen a doctor/psych about this? Ever been diagnosed with anything? It might be the way to go as there are probably different conditions that could lead to what you're describing.

I've got Asperger's syndrome. Is that meaningful in any way in regards to this?.

Maybe it does have something to do with this... You could ask your doc about any counseling that you might be able to get. Hey, maybe the folks in the AS forum will have stuff to add too.
