Do my parents try to put these ideas into my head on purpose?

i was just thinking about this.. my mom always told me all abou thow her family members were all very very successful etc... but she never said anything or did anything to imply she enjoyed it...

but my dad was always like "oh you want to be the one with all the power when you grow up!" and he was always talking about how great it would be to be a "doctor" etc.

Do they do this $#%^ on purpose to "program me" or is it like something that just "occurs" naturally?

Maybe they're jealous or know how it feels like to be someone's lapdog and don't want you to end up there.
I think they're being too persuasive, I'd just end up in an argument...

Gut reaction -

UGH! They sound clueless and their ego is threatened by other people's successes, including your successes as well as potential in the future.

Hope that's not too honest. It happens, unfortunately that some parents are ego weak and take it out on their children :(

i agree with you xdude, and quite frankly i don't think your being "too honest".

actually lately, your posts have been very very helpful to me. I'm not going to say they were that way before when i first started posting here every day, but last month or so quite a bit. since "OK" left, i have found a lot more insight on this forum.

it may have just been that "OK" is too full of insight for me too see but... *shrugs* may just be where I am at in my life.

labor -

The difference between me and OK is OK didn't have a cluster B parent, or in your case possibly two.

So for OK he got involved with a HPD woman, which is chosen relationship.

As a child of one or possibly two cluster B parents you had no choice, and it's a difference few can fathom. Chosen vs un-chosen.

There is one thing you can chose though... and that's a choice to get out of the household you live in now. Someway, somehow, i can't recommend enough that you do that. It's step #1 and a necessary step to finding some sense of normalcy.

You have time after that to figure out whats going on between you and your parents.

Feel free to PM me anytime.
