Hey, I'm also pretty new to the forum and to having anxiety. I've only been having problems for a bit more than a year. My advice to you would be to get a lot of exercise. I know it can be really hard to get motivated, but if you can run (get a treadmill if you want to stay inside, I got one free on freecycle) or try doing yoga. The whole point of yoga is to quite the mind so you can meditate, but it also really helps to quite the mind so you can just function!
This stuff really helped me, but I never would have done any of it if I hadn't seen my naturopath. I know a lot of people on these forums are skeptical of homeopathic medicine, but it worked for me. My naturopath practices constitutional homeopathy and the remedy she gave me has totally changed my life. Plus she's given me supplements to help with certain issues. She said that because I was in a constant state of anxiety for so long, my adrenaline system is sort of stuck on. So I take Seriphos to help with that and now I barely ever have panic attacks. Just to warn you, natural medicine works differently than western meds. You wont feel perfect after taking it, it just helps to bring you back into balance so you can find the roots of your problems. It might take a while to feel a lot better, but it's worth it. I believe that my body is doing this to me for a reason and even though it's totally awful and at times excruciating I don't want to just medicate and ignore it. But I'm also very lucky, I have the support of my sister and boyfriend who help me by shopping for me and all that. If you can't get free medical from the state and you don't have anyone to help you, you might want to try the more band-aid approach of western meds.
I would recommend seeing a naturopath who practices constitutional homeopathy and getting a prescription for xanex (for emergencies). Between these two things, you should feel more balanced and calm over time.
