Does anyone have any experience with Buspar?

Postby snailpet » Tue Sep 30, 2014 11:49 pm

My psychiatrist started prescribing me Buspar, or as it's also known, Buspirone, for my anxiety. I've never heard of this medication before, but he said it was good, and so did my other doctor. Like most other people, he started me out on a low dosage -- only 5mg. I'm just happy to finally be on some sort of anxiety medication ... however, I would like to know if anyone else has ever taken this drug and has had adverse effects just so I can know what to look out for. Also, if any of you have had a positive experience, feel free to tell me that, too!

Hi there

I haven't tried it personally, though I've tried lots of other meds for my anxiety. Different meds work differently for each person, and I'm no professional, so can't really say much about adverse effects. There is a risk of adverse effects with any medication.

I really hope that it helps you and you can get a bit of relief from your anxiety.

Take care

I think that Buspar has a very positive effect on me. However, I take other medication too, so I'm not really sure? But I really get the vibe that it's good for me. I remember the first time I took it, my anxiety suddenly just subsided exceptionally. I could surely tell when it had kicked in. I'm not sure if that's really why, but I really did nothing/took nothing else that would cause the anxiety to lessen that drastically. I was already used to my other medication, so it wasn't that. Perhaps a combination of them? I'm unsure, but basically I feel really good about Buspar. It's not addictive either.

Good vibes to you! :)
