Evan likes things in his head but not in real life because it's safer. A long time ago if the family knew he really liked something then they knew what to take away to hurt him. Evan is worried that Pokemons are like puppies and kitties and stuffies that always get taken away once he loves them.

I'm sorry to hear that used to happen. To be completely honest, my one big complaint with Pokemon GO is that, due to the mechanics, one really can't form much attachment to a Pokemon (if you want to be a top battler). Between the hoards of Pokemon needed to be captured just to power and/or evolve one Pokemon is ridiculous, and sending off the extras is necessary if you want to own something other than Weedles, Pidgeys, or Rattatas...those things are EVERYWHERE, and will fill the box quickly. Add on that it's often easier(mostly due to obnoxious stardust shortages) to replace a Pokemon for a more powerful one, rather than build the old one.... Unless your into metagaming and IV calculation (love SylphRoad!) and have a LOT of spare time.
Don't get me wrong, I love the game, it's the closest to experiencing the main titles IRL. I just wish there was more to be done with a Pokemon, like tweak it's moves, Soooo many good battlers ruined by bad random movesets! DX
