Dreams about possible alters

Postby feeling-empty » Mon Jun 18, 2012 5:54 pm

Have you ever had a dream about an alter you didn't know you had? Last night I dreamed a had a 14-year-old alter named Lydia, who was very talkative, immature, social, and had abanonment/self-worth issues. She named herself something weird like Shimmerglow but eventully settled on Lydia later in the dream. But I didn't know I had an alter named Lydia, and I don't remember ever hearing her Inside.

We think Lydia may have been an alter that integrated when Morgan was fourteen, but we aren't sure. This is our only theory. Things like this have happened before--the suprise appearances of Ghost and Johnny, for instance--but an alter has never appeared to us in a dream.

Maybe it was just my brain making things up, or maybe I did have an alter named Lydia that integrated when I was 14? That was the age I did start to become more social and also more depressed...

Have any of you guys had similar experiences?

Not since knowing about the DID no.

I've had dreams about alters before I was aware of the DID.

I guess it doesn't matter so much as to where Lydia came from but more... is there something she needs? Why is she showing herself again now?

I've had a dream about 2 alters. It was weird. I still don't know who they are because I'm afraid to meet them. They weren't too nice to me in the dream.

My T says dreams are key to understanding DID and what's happening. If she's talking, evn in your dreams, then she needs something. Or wants you to know something. . .
no longer DX of DID. PTSD.

4 of my son's started as nightmares; then outward hallucinations. all of the rest have been woken/come about inside...but he just told me he's been having a recurring dream about another...so I'm wondering if it is the way his system 'introduces' them. Gives him a glimpse and maybe it is how he accepts/awakens that consciousness. I think the difference is that they are very lucid dreams...very real feeling/ detailed....and he remembers them quite clearly. Good luck...
