I was wondering if anyone thinks that dissociative disorders(not neccesarily DID) can present itself similar to Borderline Personality?

1. Be impeccable with your word
2. Don't make assumptions
3. Do the best you can at all times
4. Don't take anything personally

I have often thought so. From what I've read, Borderline patients can have dissociative ego states that may just not present as distinctly as DID. Also, personality disorders often have roots in childhood trauma(or so says my T, who specializes in both personality and dissociative disorders). While they are both very different disorders, with very different brain chemistry stuff going on, I do think they can be perceived as similar to outsiders.

Many people diagnosed with borderline personality disorder have significant dissociative symptoms, especially depersonalization, derealization, and some identity alteration. They usually do not have dissociative amnesia.
Many people diagnosed with DID have one or more alters whose conflicting behavior gives the net appearance of borderline personality disorder.
The dissociative disorder assessment tools by Marlene Steinberg (SCID-D-R) and Paul Dell (MID) are useful for distinguishing between BPD with dissociative symptoms on the one hand and dissociative disorders with other symptoms.
