LSD trip

Postby brandonsmom777 » Sat Jan 07, 2012 10:36 pm

I don't know if I've posted this before but it's giving me extreme anxiety right now because I can remember nothing. I am a recoverying meth user (2 yrs now) and got this thought at work today that maybe someone laced the drugs with LSD or something...I think I'd deserve it if they did but I'm just really trippin on this right now....would I still have the effects of it? I've been through a lot of trauma in my life and have had problems long before drug use ie eating disorders, severe OCD, depersonalization and so forth but they've become sooooo much worse after my drug use and I can't help but think I ruined my mind with drugs. My primary medical doctor who's known me since I was a kid tells me I'm being too worried that the drugs would have metabolized by now and this isn't accounting for my symptoms (no medical reason is). I've also SPECT scans done of my brain and an MRI and it shows no brain damage or anything. I'm just really scared now, well all the time but to think I did this to myself is horrifying me. I've quit all drugs and just want to get better and live a happy life with my son which we're trying to do now but all this dissociative crap is getting in the way. What if I don't have a dissociative disorder and it's just from drugs? I dont know what to think anymore and I'm really afraid of how I feel right now. Thanks for listening/reading.

I think your doctor is right. Either way, you need to move forward, there is no turning back.

I don't see the logic in saying it's down to drug use when the problems started before that. Maybe the drug use made the problems worse either temporarily or permanently, but the underlying problems were there before the drug use. I feel you're blaming yourself unnecessarily. X

Hi (Mom?)

Heavy meth use can effect the brain physiologically, but since your medical tests were clear, let's not worry about that. That's what tests are for. A good result is a good thing.

Would spiking your meth with LSD make you 'trip' on it now? LSD is a very powerful hallucinogen and can induce severe states of dissociation - that's true. It also does induce altered states of consciousness which poses ongoing questions about what is real and normative for the individual. What is not true is that LSD remains in the body and can trigger flashbacks years after usage is stopped. LSD has a half-life of approximately 2 - 4 hours and then is metabolized by the body like any other chemical. A very small percentage of chronic users do experience HPPD, but the effects are not what you describe.

But, you're not even sure that your meth was spiked.

The mind is a constantly evolving, self-organizing system responsible for consciousness, subjective experience and information processing. At some point during your life you went through a lot of trauma, experienced a lot of problems because of it, and subjected yourself to drug use. This all shapes the mind. It is called Life and it's a wonderful experience.

You did not damage your brain and your mind will continue to evolve and respond to Life. Embrace your experiences and do not push back. Accept where you are, what you are and what you have.

I wish you all the Love for your all son... Brett
